And as far as dedicated hardware physx games go at the moment... Yeah it's a handful.

Yeah, with an mATX setup, I don't want to have to have dedicated hardware for physics. I like that Nvidia now allows your to offload it on their cards natively, but it bums me out that its completely restricted. bah.

ATI does not have a $100M+ developer assistance program. NVIDIA does.

UE3 does support AA. Only for DX10, though.

Do some research. AMD was actively involved in the Batman AA development, they just didn't actually send an engineer to Rocksteady to write code for them, because they were busy with other titles. When Rocksteady asked both AMD and nVidia how they should implement AA, AMD responded by telling them in depth what they should do. What nVidia did was implement that exact code, only they put a vendor ID lock that prevented ATI cards from running the code. So you can't get AA on ATI cards because of nVidia's anti-competitive tactics. Furthermore, they told Rocksteady that they couldn't change the code because it was their property, which is of course plagiarism, since the method they used has been implemented by both ATI and nVidia countless times before.

And UT3 does have AA under DX10, but nVidia's potentially illegal code blocks that too.

Interesting review. It would have been nicer if it was longer, but I guess he ran out of games that actually use PhysX

(Also, its been shown that CPU PhysX is single threaded, and that multi-threading provides a huge boost to performance)

Saying how to do something and doing something are worlds apart in effort.

More like you just boarded the fail boat. As UE3 does not natively support AA in DX9 (it does in DX10, but not all UE3 games support it and the default implementation is not great and is typically tweaked by UE3 licensees) it is ATI's responsibility to create a driver level workaround for their cards. That is exactly what Nvidia did and ATI simply didn't do it, so they lost out.

While that may be true, it isn't Nvidia's problem.

So if Rocksteady asked AMD how handle the code for jumping, and AMD came in, wrote the code and put a vendor ID lock preventing the user from jumping if he was running an nVidia card that would be ok?

Its not a driver level workaround. Its a modification to the game engine. The workaround for getting AA in UE3 is fairly routine, and has been implemented many times before by AMD, nVidia and the actual developers. Only this time nVidia blocked AA from ATI cards, and told Rocksteady they couldn't change the code, so even if AMD sent an engineer to get it working they couldn't.

I do like the effects of PhysX but I do feel "SON I AM DISAPPOINT" that Nvidia banned official support for ATi users...
Damn they even bought a Nvidia card why ban them?
