Eaxactly. I love how ATI always has an excuse for everything though. The same with their users. They can see the flaws but they just pretent that they are not there.

PhysX? Well there aren't many games for it or meh it's just eye candy. Oh yeah we are not paying for that.

Poor performance, drivers bugs? Well drivers will eventually mature or it's a TWIMTBP game so it's normal for it to run better on Nvidia hardware.

No AA? Well it's Nvidia's fault

Oh but ATI has DX11 and Eyefinity

People, it doesn't matter which company you got with, but you always have to see the cons and the pros. Nvidia being the big dog is more likely to have a bigger impact in game development and that's something many take for granted.

Its not a driver level workaround. Its a modification to the game engine. The workaround for getting AA in UE3 is fairly routine, and has been implemented many times before by AMD, nVidia and the actual developers. Only this time nVidia blocked AA from ATI cards, and told Rocksteady they couldn't change the code, so even if AMD sent an engineer to get it working they couldn't.
funnily enough both eidos and nvidia are washing their hands off, eidos say nvidia won't allow them since its nvidia IP, nvidia say otherwise.

Again - screw PhysX, it has given us nothing but tiny effects that could be done with something like Havoc.

Oh yes, having a few flags and smog effects is really the way it... should be played.

Of course ATI wants to have everythign run on the CPU but look at the performance hit. I say screw CPU PhysX and I more than welcome Nvidia PhySX. One of the reasons why I do stick with Nvidia.
Not really. It's Nvidia who made it exclusive. It has nothing to do with ATi 'wanting' to make everything CPU.

Refering to Ducky's post... Not having enough resources is lazy?

And...this is coming from you of all people. That, ladies and gentlemen, is comedy at it's finest.

But seriously, good review...but I wish they hadn't disabled support for a Geforce card to be used in conjunction with an ATI card.

From what I've read, not tried, there is a work around that works. I haven't followed up on it though, as I've found PhysX completely useless.

yea a handful
You've been here long enough to know that there are 15 games and one mod on PC that have hardware accelerated PhysX. I hate it when people post that list.

http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_physxgames_home.html

And I've only heard of 6 of them and played none of them. If they got Crysis 2 or MW2 that would change things... A game I want to play that uses PhysX. Until then, it's not for me.

Most of those are about the consoles. Hell, there are even a few Wii games on that list that that supposedly have PhysX but they have an ATi GPU. The Wii's CPU good enough to do PhysX and the game? I think not.
Also, games like Gundam Crossfire had almost little to no actual effects that stuck out as "PhysX". It was all generic and basic.

Yeah, I heard that as well. Currently, I have no need for it, of course, since I only have an 8800GT. But, if I do decide to buy a 5850 (still waiting for the Fermi mainstream cards), I wouldn't mind using PhysX. I have a free pci-e slot, might as well use it -- until I get a second 5850 that is.

Why would they ever do that? AA has nothing to do with the game play of the game Remember what people are moaning about here, it's the support of anti-aliasing... At the end of the day it is relatively minor compared to many other things.

This just goes to show that you have no idea what PhysX actually is...

It allows games to have "advanced" physics but run smoothly.
My point was that - half the games listed on there have generic effects that would run fine with something like Havoc. It's truly nothing special at all.
