Default [PopSci] Baguett Dropped from Bird's Beak shuts down the LHC

If an errant baguette can cause this kind of problem with *exposed* machinery, I'm not surprised they are having so many problems.

I mean seriously.

How can something exposed be effected so greatly by a small piece of debris. You think they would have a housing precaution of some sort.
