The thread title angered me and your bold text is annoying. Please stop. Remember OCN's etiquette rules.

This is a repost also; ATi has won the contract but MSFT will likely not use an AMD CPU. They may stick with IBM. I also realize that IBM and AMD have some sort of joint venture going on. But the CPU in 360 is based on the Power5 architecture, so I'm not sure how much technology it shares with AMD CPUs, if any at all.

Hence using the AMD GPU not CPU, i agree here makes more sense, since it is really only the GPU hampering the performance of the 360, and PS3 for that matter, and why reinvent the wheel? They have the architectures in place and a system set up already and for backwards compatibility it wouldn't be wise to change the whole inner workings of the 360.
