Default [Xbit]Fermi Production To be Ramped Up in Q1 2010

Fermi's commercial production to begin in Q1 2010

Quote:
“Next year it is going to be an interesting first quarter because, in fact, we will need more wafers than ever in Q1. The reason for that is because – and I mean more 40nm wafers than ever in Q1 –we are […] fully ramping Fermi for three different product lines: GeForce, Quadro and Tesla,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, chief executive officer of Nvidia, in the conference call with financial analysts.

It's still possible that there will be limited availability in December. Barring that, there will surely be review samples sent out.

Unfortunately:

Nvidia will only be able to start commercial shipments its next-generation graphics cards based on Fermi architecture in calendar 2010, not in calendar 2009, as the company promised originally.

I believe that statement is referring to mass production. Even if it turns out true, which is a possibility, Nvidia will surely send out review samples beforehand.

Different context, however the wording applies quite appropriately to this situation for myself, and many others:

I expect a launch like any other. Samples before release and no data until NDA lifts on launch date.

I'm looking to upgrade for AVP and other DX11 titles around that time. Eyefinity with 3 monitors is pure sex though so hopefully ATI have something comparable to release closer to then. I don't think Nvidia is planning on having 3 monitor outputs standard and as gimmicky as it is I REALLY want it.

the run down:

very high output of fermi cards 3 product lines from TSMC in Q1 2010
no availability of fermi cards in 2009
blah blah blah, were making money money money now anyways

conclusion:

No fermi fun until february.

EDIT: but whats it matter, there doesnt seem to be a possibility of more evergreen fun until then either!!!!
