Default [JonnyGuru] Toughpower XT 850W - A Second Look...

Quote:
Two weeks ago, Thermaltake came to us with an updated version of the Toughpower XT series. Since that model did so well, Thermaltake was curious to see how the updated version of the 850W model stacked up against the older revision I reviewed here. And so, I find myself here today looking at the Toughpower XT line for the third time. Will the 850W I have in front of me today make up for the poor showing the previous version had here at jonnyGURU.com? Let's all find out together.

Wow....what a waste...

Same build almost, just revised some.

And only 2A more than the 750watt version? What is wrong with them?

850watt ATX12v/EPS12v PSU only pushing 744watts on the 12v rail is just not good in my book. More so when the 750watt is significantly cheaper. (750watt version is 720watts 12v rail.)

And the price difference? $125 vs $216 for 24watts on the 12v rail? are these people insane?

Damn, they already have like six, 850w power supplies on the market. Was another one necessary?

So this is like the 5850 vs. 5870 situation?

Even worse. It only has 24 more watts than the 750watt unit. Same everything else.

Try like 5. They just keep revising the build is the problem.
Though, the old 4 rail design should be out soon, and the new single rail units in.
And the difference is between Modular & Non Modular.
Except unlike Crosair, they use the same build for both.

I prefer the way Thermaltake does Modular though. The layout and leaving only the 24pin cable on is nice.

This is thermaltake we're talking about. It's not supposed to make sense.
