Default [x-bit]AMD Displays Llano Die: 4 x86 Cores, 480 Stream Processors.

So here are some of the specs for the upcoming Llano Processor. Looks like it will be a beast for those who need no more than integrated graphics.

Quote:
Based on the die shot displayed by Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general manager of AMD’s products group, the first Fusion processor from AMD will feature 4 x86 cores that resemble those of Propus processor (AMD Athlon II X4) as well as 6 SIMD engines (with 80 stream processors per engine) that resemble those of Evergreen graphics chip (ATI Radeon HD 5800), PC3-12800 (DDR3 1600MHz) memory controller, possibly, with some tweaks to better serve x86 and graphics engines.

Wow... If a GPU like that came standard on all computers, that would be a huge win for PC gamers everywhere...

It will be a huge win for everyone as applications begin to utilize GPUs on a massive and general scale. Something not being able to be done until it's integrated into either the motherboard or the CPU. The actual gaming performance on these chips will be weak unless memory bandwidth increases tremendously, or GDDR slots are placed on the motherboard.

so how does this work with memory... graphics need a lot of bandwidth... DDR3 quad channel would be in order to satisfy the CPU and GPU at the same time.

Most people who would play games on that, are the onces who play games that require very little graphics power, like 5 years ago before i got in to the whole "building computers" thing, i just used our old Compaq with interpreted graphics to play few mmo's and cs 1.6, it ran on it, not perfect but it was playable. Now if i had this, then playing games like that would be awesome.

Most people who play games more demanding know of things like building your computer, or they know that "the more expensive computer with a word gaming on it" is the computer to buy from companies like dell,hp..ect.

But that is still a wet dream regardless of it's memory bandwidth. 2011 will be a fun year

Very true.

I wonder if AMD will consider a move to triple channel memory in the future, or at least better IMC's, so to achieve parity with Intels massive I5/I7 memory bandwidth.

This should be great for the HTPC market as well, any motherboard with video out can now have much better performance, and without having to worry about what integrated video it has.
