A netbook that doesn't use an Intel atom? The world is coming to an end!

jk

Nice to see Ibm/Lenovo starting to use AMD products.

In their attempt to diversify the Thinkpad line, I think they're just polluting the pure business-oriented styling and functionality with something that's well...a mutant gene. I'm inclined to say I don't like this idea at all and could be signs to come of the Thinkpad namesake going mainstream.

Nothing is wrong with going AMD, whats wrong is a 11.6" "business netbook". In that aspect, I completely agree with you. They seem like they are starting to merge the IdeaPad and ThinkPad lines, which is a nono. ThinkPads have an excellent reputation that I could see being polluted as you say if they decide to start taking the route they are starting on. But hey, aren't they owned by the Chinese Government?

I would say Lenovo should have been using AMD a long time a go for the sake of competition, but lets face it the current gen AMD mobile chips aren't that swell, you can see why they weren't being used. Using AMD mobile CPUs in the future will make more sense when they come out with their next gen stuff. That will be nice, but I still can't figure out why Lenovo never used AMD until now. I never heard that Lenovo was involved in the latest Intel monopoly lawsuit, that is the only reason I can think of that Intel was paying Lenovo too.
