16 Dual Cores Tested and Reviewed

The release of AMD Athlon II series marks processor market has entered into 45nm era. 45nm processors have lower power consumption, less heat as well as better performance than 65nm products. Therefore, they are popular among major consumers.

There are all kinds of 45nm products in current market, including high-end quad-core products, also mainstream and mid-and low-end tri-core and dual-core processors.Especially dual-core processors takes up a large market share. Many friends wants to learn about their difference.

Phenom II X2 series results are slightly better than Core 2 E7000 series.Clearly, Core 2 E8000 series is the biggest winner with the assistance of huge L2 cache capacity. It can be seen cache capacity cause bigger impact on this game.

sure an intel dual core may perform slightly better but the amd phenom II x2's are

- cheap
- overclock very easy, where as with intel you should have a decent cooler
- run cool

It really doesn't make sense to be buying the e8xxx series anymore being a $100 AMD chip can keep pace or even beat them at most things.

My 550BE is pretty great. It beat everything in the first test, but didn't do so hot with Crysis. Oh well, Crysis is bad anyway.

This is nice info for a non-overclocker, but how do the PhenonIIs overclock compared to the e8xxx CPUs?

e8xxxs routinely get past 4GHz.

The Phenom II's hit around 3.8ghz (C2 Stepping)

C3's can get 4ghz+

True, but still you can get an e5300 for $70 and it'll overclock like crazy.

I see AMD supplying ample value to the non-overclocker (most of the world), but for overclockers, it looks like Intel provides better value.

Unless I'm completely wrong, which is highly likely.
