45nm, Runs Cool, Very Nice OCer, Great Value, Supports DDR2/DDR3

Cons:

None!

This processor is AMD's golden ticket.
I could hit 4GHz on stock volts (Obviously it wasn't stable) but this just goes to show how the chip scales.
Did 3.7GHz stable on stock volts. Very quick in folding, gaming etc.

Best CPU ive ever had... period! Performance difference from a Phenom 9550 and an Athlon 7850 BE are both astonishing. Great review for the 955 over at techspot...

Pros:

price/performance, fast compared to intel's similarly priced cpu's, very overclockable
|
|
Cons:
|
can't think of any =D
|

been using it for around a month now and have been completely blown away by its performance over my old intel duo core processor, it really has been a massive leap, and for the price, just, WOW.
Intel had better watch the quad core market with a sharp eye if AMD keep producing processors like this

Pros:

well its great performance, for small money.! very fast.
|
|
Cons:
|
only thing is, the i5 750 kicks its ass in every benchmark
|
|
Just I thought a few months ago it was one of the best value Quad Core CPU's - but then Intel hit back with the i5 750 Quad with completely new architecture that is based on the new i7 range, only has 4 threads, instead of the normal 8 threads, it auto clocks to 3.2Ghz (default) from 2.66Ghz.
The new i5 is easy to clock to 4.0Ghz on a good air cooler - that is well known.
So just when AMD where finally taking back some of the market, intel, launch 3 new high performance CPU's aimed at the gamer and power user.
If you have an AMD Compatible mobo, then upgrade to the 955, however if you want the best system to last you a long time you'll need a new LGA1156 mobo and an i5 750, or i7 860 CPU, both very well priced considering they both perform better than the AMD II x4 965 BE. Just google and check out the benchmarks at stock for both i5 and i7 CPU's.
hope not to offend any AMD fanboys.

Pros:

Price is still amazing, compatibility is great! AM3 boards are cheap!
|
|
Cons:

Not as fast as Core i7's, but LGA1156/1366 boards are PRICEY! Con for Intel!
|

Like somebody had just mentioned, Intel did respond well to the Phenom II X4 955 (AMD's current 'flagship' processor) - but on AMD's positive note, Intel isn't able to offer the kind of compatibility the AM3 socket does. You can run this Processor on your AM3, AM2+, and your AM2 boards! The only major loss here is that you won't be able to run DDR3-RAM on an older AM2+/AM2 board, but that even allows you to use your DDR2-RAM until quality DDR3 comes down even more in price.
As far as the overclocking potential of this CPU, it's phenomenal. (no pun intended).
I decided to let software take care of my processor when I let AMD Overdrive run the autoclock procedure on my CPU last night - and I was impressed.
My result came to 3933mhz per core (207x19) @ only 1.45v. I have no doubt in my mind that if I were to crank my CPU voltage up to the maximum 1.55v, my processor would reach the 4GHz stable mark.
As far as the current results go, it runs Prime95 stable and my temperature peaks out at 48 degrees Celcius (see system specs below).
I sold my old EVGA 790i FTW motherboard with my Q9650 to replace it with the hardware I've got now - and I must say I'm impressed with how well my new setup performs in comparison to my previous one. Not just was the Phenom half the price of my Q9650, it overclocked higher, and easier. And it even runs cooler.
So in my final verdict, if you're trying to get an upgrade from your old AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ (just an example =P) for some quad-core goodness, this processor may just be for you.
But to the contrary, if you want to overhaul your current PC, go for the Core i7 (I wouldn't even settle for the i5)

I'll leave the negative comments for Intel products ty.

A very amazing chip. out of the box on liquid cooling with no overvolting I took it from 3.2-3.6 stable with a 18 X on a ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO Mobo. Beats having my AMD Athlon II x2 250 (LOL those were the days).
The stock cooler is a nice feature if you dont have a aftermarket one but still want to air cool. Goes to show how much AMD really cares.
I do recommend liquid cooling because as soon as you start to over volt this processor is gunna get nice and hot. and no one likes a fried grilled cheese 955.
I give this processor a 10/10 a very badass product.
