Pros: Great Overclocking. Supports ATI CF and Quad CPU.
Cons: No SLI Support. Traces are easy broken.

The GIGABYTE EP45-UD3P is a well known product to intel system builders. The board supports the use of ATI Crossfire and socket 775 CPU's. The board has a cooling feature mounted on the North Bridge chip and the Mosfets. Gigabyte use 2oz copper PCB tech. This new invention is called Ultra Durable 3.

A look at the board.

First of all, i was attracted to the cooling system on this motherboard. Aftermarket cooling might not be needed after all. The product has a intel socket that supports multi core CPU's such as the Intel Core2Quad Q6600. The product has 4 memory slots. it can support 16GB of memory in total. A 64-bit OS would be needed to take advantage of this feature. Solid Capacitor's ensure the quality of the board. 2x PCI-E 2.0 slots is a big feature on the board. It allows the use of multi GPU support from ATI. The board also uses SATA2, PATA support ect.

A little story.
I was able to use my Q6600 and the ATI 4870 from sapphire. When the PC was built for the first time, the system would not start. I had many short bleeping noises. I read the book that came with the motherboard to identify the issue. I had a power issue as it would seem. I RMA'ed the board. A week later, i saw that a trace on the PCB had been fixed and insulated. The board still did not work for me. I then called in for another RMA. Another week later, a new board had been sent to me. Good RMA service. A new board.

Using the board.
Gaming had been made possible. I was able to use my 4870 HD in the first PCI-E slot. My quad Q6600 shown no issues. The board runs at 50c when the system is stressed (small FFT) using prime95. I also used my Corsair VX550W. I had the option to use my PATA DVD drive and my SATA2 HDD at the same time with no performance/detection issues.
Overall, the board seems to be good quality and supports some of the fastest CPU's/GPU's on today's market.

Overclocking.
Voltages such as CPU term, Vcore, Memory voltage and Timings plus MCH can all be adjusted.

My quad q6600 reached 3.6GHz in the first go, totally stable. (q6600 G0) I set vcore to 1.5v so it would run at 1.376v in windows. I set the CPU term by 0.2 below whatever the vcore was set to. MCH Had been set to 1.26v. This is all i needed to change in order to have a stable FSB of 400 times a multi of 9 to hit 3.6GHz. I ran the memory in a 1:1 ratio. To do this, set the memot ratio to 2.00d.

All done, your at 3.6GHz! Nothing more to say. I could hit 4GHz but my TRUE can only take me so far.

Overall
The board is great for high end gaming desktop computers. Ati CF support allows Multi GPU's for great graphical performance. Multi core CPU's are detected by the board with no issue. If you need a board to support the latest hardware (exept i7) for the latest games. I highly suggest you get this product if performance and overclocking is what you what. The ultimate Overclocking and gaming board.
