Description: The Psyko 5.1 PC Gaming Headset is a radical departure from any other headphone on the market. For starters, the speakers are not placed in the ear cups. The speakers are placed above your head in the bridge of your headset. The placement of the speakers in the bridge enables three things to occur.

1. Each speaker is placed in a precise position to create the correct timing and volume difference to each ear.
2. WaveGuides (air tubes) connect each speaker to BOTH ears to deliver the correct timing and volume difference.
3. The WaveGuides direct the front sound across the front of the ear, and the rear sounds across the rear of the ear.

Pros: Amazing sound in game, very comfortable, detachable mic, can sides can open or close, analog inputs, nice amp
Cons: Price

I was using my Logitech Z-5500 for everything before going to these headphones. I think they are a great speaker setup, and will still use them for most movie watching and music listening. Since I did not have any recent use with quality headphones to compare these to, I will base my comparison to my real 5.1 speaker setup.

I'll try to sum this up as simple as possible:

Sound: 10/10 Amazing! Playing games such as Borderlands and Left 4 Dead 2 (Demo) I am hearing things I did not before. In Borderlands it is extremely easy to tell where a shout or gunfire is coming from. I can hear the skags growling in the distance and instantly tell which direction they are coming from. Multiple times while listening to some music or at certain parts of a game when a voice would talk I literally turned my head because I thought someone was in the room with me.

Comfort: 8/10 Very comfortable. The cups have some sort of very soft almost velvet-feeling material, and they are adjustable in/out as well as up/down. The headset might be a big large and heavy for some, but I am a bigger guy and I almost forget I am wearing them after awhile. Sometimes I get a little itchy around the area that the cups contact my skin, but I also have a beard (No shave November) which may be at least half, if not completely, the culprit.

Ease of setup/use: 8/10 Fairly straightforward. It took me a bit of tinkering to setup the headphones and soundcard properly to have good stereo playback. At first, the stereo sounded like complete crap--luckily on the psyko amp you can view the little lights which correspond to each speaker, and I could plainly see that originally my stereo setup was only utilizing 2 of the speakers. This resulted in a very weak sound.

Overall: 8/10 Great product. I understand this is a new technology, and maybe they have more overhead to produce the technology (plus most likely funding the research that went into them originally), however that doesn't mean I have to like the price. They are very expensive, at $299 when compared to the Logitech which can be had for about $100 shipped. If price really doesn't matter, and/or you want a great headset -- I'd fully recommend the Psyko 5.1's. If you are budget-conscious, or headphones aren't as important as other pieces of hardware, then pass these up.
