Description: "The game is set in 1989, when the Soviet Union began to fracture as a result of a failing economy, but pursues an alternate history in which the Soviet Politburo elects to take military action to preserve the Soviet Union rather than let it fall apart. Their plan was to blackmail Western Europe to get the aid they need, or failing to secure the aid through diplomatic means, invade Western Europe and take it themselves.

Generally considered a real-time strategy (RTS) game, World in Conflict includes gameplay typical of real-time tactical (RTT) games."

This game has a Red Dawn feel, nearly all of the action takes place on the US west coast were the Russians stage a invasion on American Soil.

Pros: Great Game Play, Graphics are amazing!!! Realistic combat/Units
Cons: Single player story/picture scenes make me gag

Loved this game, I got the collectors edition with the DVD and a piece of the berlin wall.

IMO a must have for all RTS/History buffs.

Got it months ago, still playing (off and on)

Pros: Interesting new system, Russia is kicking arse, brilliant multiplayer, free 3 day trail included to give to a mate
Cons: No unit upgrades, feels boring after an hour

A fantastic looking Direct X 10 game and an interesting take on RTS unit manufacturing process.

The multiplayer is fantastic. Quite easy to get lost in this sometimes. Invest in a headset if you haven't already as it makes organising tactics much easier.

One of the great things is the fact you get a multiplayer disc with a free 3 day trial to give to a mate.

In our age there is no such thing as 'keeping out of politics.' All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia.

KRYTEN: I know. I had a mechanoid friend once who suffered from the same affliction. His name was Gilbert, but he preferred it if people called him "Rameses Niblick the Third, Kerplunk Kerplunk, Whoops, Where's My Thribble." A sad case.

Pros: Fun ; Strategic ; Explosive ; Looks Great
Cons: Too Long of Missions ; Too Few Missions ; Dumb AI

This game is one of my favorite all time RTS games next to Company of Heroes.

WiC carries all of what makes a game great -
a fun, compelling story
great graphics with great performance
easy to use interface and controls
stunning sound
great gameplay

The sound and great detail is what really shine through this game. The sound of massive artillery and nuke strikes is absolutely awesome. It'll blow you off your seat. And it'll make your eyeballs explode to boot. Not only do the effects sound cool, but the voice acting is prestine.

The only real cons about the game is that sometimes the missions really drag out to a point where you have sooo many troops you don't know what to do with all of them even if you're in a constant struggle with the enemy in both multiplayer or singleplayer. And then there is too few of mission. I would've prefered plenty of moderate length missions over long and few missions.

The AI in singleplayer can be really stupid at times.

And you need to command each and every unit to do things. For example, the tanks have special rocks. You have to command the units to use them, they don't use them automaticly. Which is kinda weird because it's not only unrealistic but it really throws the game off sometimes. You'll be a point with alot of troops, but in order to save a few troops you need them to use special attacks but they don't. Or you could be launching artillery and stuff, but then have to stop, pick each unit to use their special on a specific target. This could be deciding factors to the battle sometimes.

Overall, great game. Recommended.
