I just got started on this tonight, drilling holes and arranging the basic layout. The design will be based on Lukas Fikus' Lampizator.
"Lampizator is an anode follower single ended triode in pure class A with a dynamic active load. It is called SRPP circuit or totem pole. It is well known for it's high tolerance to supply voltage and supply variations, it does not require regulated stabilized supply. It „regulates itself" by means of the first triode half. It gives a pure, dynamic and powerful sound from almost any supply voltage." I'll be using it as a preamp/buffer for my DAC, using user-selectable 6N2P (high gain) or 6N6P (low gain) tubes. With this feature, it's going to be a very versatile preamp, as will be able to provide the initial gain stage for virtually any source (with a bit of resistor tuning). This is my first foray into tube amplifier circuits, and I am curious to see what kind of "signature" they have. Anyway, here are some initial test-fitting and tube pictures: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll post more when I get to building the circuits, and fabbing a cover for that transformer. Thanks for looking!

I hope you have a cover for that transformer...

Im a real noob on this stuff, but what do those tubes do on those amps, and why are they so popular, ive never seen one in real life and would they drive a pair of speakers nicely, i mostly seen people use those for headphones??

No, the "lampizator" is a preamplifier/buffer circuit, most commonly used as an output stage replacement on digital sources like cd players and DACs.
Tube power amplifiers require much larger and more robust power tubes as well as output transformers (or lots and lots of impedence-reducing tubes in OTL designs), to match a 4 or 8 ohm speaker. The 6N2P tube in my lampizator is often used with excellent effect as a driver tube for the large power tubes, however.
