Default Soundcard for HD555's.

Well ive decided its time to get rid of these Creative Failtality headphones and get something much better.

Ive decided on getting some refurb HD 555's. Im going to be using for lots of music and gaming. More music than gaming though so thats my prime concern. Now i just need opinions on a sound card. I was kind of debating between these 2 but am still open to suggestion. Im trying to get a good card so i can avoid buying an amp to go with them.

Asus Xonar-D2
or
Creative XiFi Titanium

Im open to suggestions on different cards.

You'll want one of the following (they have built-in headphones amps):
1)Auzentech Forte
2)Xonar Essence STX

If your gaming then you MUST use a Creative card, no ifs ends or buts. Xonars do have better sound quality but they lack CMSS-3D, a technology by Creative that emulates surround sound. The X-FI Titanium is the best card they currently sell, the "Fatal1ty KING KONG EDITION" are no different spec for spec.

Use that card, CMSS-3D & your HD 555's and your golden.

They don't have CMSS-3D, they aren't any good if hes gaming.

No offense to OP, this isn't directed to you.

Their needs to be a damn sticky with this information, everyday it's the same question over and over "What sound card?", "What headphones?", "Is a soundcard worth it?", ect... It all ends the same, HD 555, ATH700, for soundcards it's Xonars for HTPC and Titanium for games.

The Creative X-Fi Titanium is a great card but personally I would go with a Xonar Essencee STX. Just my personal preference
