Default Spikes.

I have some big old speakers for my l/r channels and they're on carpet and kind of tilt forward. I've seen some speakers with feet/spikes so that they stay level on carpet, but I dunno where to get any or if there's a specific type to get. Anybody able to point me in the right direction?

I thought the same but when I looked into it, they actually couple things to a surface or are used to keep speakers level and stable on carpet.

Quote:
Placing spikes on the bottom of your speakers or speaker stands can have a great effect on sound, getting rid of the muddy/boomy bass. Sub-bass frequencies travel better through solid materials than through air, higher frequencies travel better through air.

When not using spikes, Mid-bass frequencies will travel through both the air and through solid material and because the wave travels faster through the solid, you hear the two waves at slightly different times - causing the muddy sound. When using spikes, only low frequencies take advantage of the coupling effect, meaning that midbass is prevented from travelling through the solids and the sound has more clarity.
That's what I came up with after reading into it when I made this thread.

Here's a good read on the subject: click me

Oh man $28 shipping from av123 for 8 spikes, and $9.56 from parts express (but each 4-pack is 5.45 more expensive than av123's)

Since i'm poor, I'll just wait until I get some new speakers and all that at the same time >_>

Most floorstanders and speaker stands come with spikes, so you should be covered either way
