I've heard good things about the speakers, but haven't seen much word about the sub. It's newer I believe so not too surprising. not sure if you can order direct, but it would likely be cheaper

I saw that, but last I checked the Australian dollar was about even with the US dollar, the speakers sell for $350 here and $500 there...

From the specs, its 95db seems high, if it is that high, your low end will roll off much earlier then there rated 50hz.

Almost all speakers get good reviews and you hardly see bad ones.

Try them, but for 500$, you could get much better speakers and amp.

Yes I can prove it :P.

Please take a look at all these speakers. Axioms bookshelfs, av123, B&W. I could post many more but well stick with these. This is something you really only learn when building speakers.

All these speakers are in the price range of those monitors.

Do you see the pattern ? Almost all the speakers are under 90db. Which is about the range for most home audio. There freq range stops at around 50hz, and rolls off a little before that, hense the -3db, and -1db ratings.

Pro audio, is usually in the range of 95+ because of its exagerated mid range, and highs. The reason there sensitivity is higher, is because of lower excursion and the tweeters are often horn loaded. Pro audio goes down to 40hz in most cases, but there the roll off starts around 100. Which is why most djs get powered subs.

If those moniters specs are correct and they are 95db, there sound will be that of a pro audio speaker(good mid and high but not any good bass), and something I would not put in my home.

If you have ever built a speaker, and its sensitivity ends up being high 90s, it ends up with very weak low end response.

Just my peice of advice, take it for a grain of salt, but this is what I have found over the years. You can see it in subwoofers to, the ones that go sub 30hz, are low 80 and high excursion.

You still haven't proven anything...

Sensitivity simply is the dB a speaker can play with 1watt when you are 1meter from the speaker.

The frequency range of a speaker (and to a certain extent sensitivity) is most affected by the enclosure and driver, and to a lesser extent the crossover. Sensitivity is not directly related to low frequency extension.

Its impossible to prove without research. And its something that you would not know. Have you ever built speakers? Probally not. A home built speaker will never be that high unless its pro audio, or expensive.

The point is. That those monitors rated at 95db sensitivity, 50hz range, and having a small driver.... well.... they have either rated it falsely or I would not buy it.

when you buy a pair and provide 'true' ratings then maybe we can talk.

Back on topic, Stereeophile reviewed the A2 and had some great things to say about the $200 little brother. And for anyone wanting to believe all this nonsense that high sensitivity=high bass rolloff can look at the measurements where it is clearly stated that the cabinet and small driver most notably effect low frequency rolloff.
