Default KEF PSW 2000 Sub Dead?

Ive got a KEF PSW 2000 sub i got from a friend who had it in storage for a loong time and i just decided to take it and try it out. The light turns on but i get no sound from it at all. I connected it using both the line in and the speaker terminals too but nothing. Anyone have experience with this sub? any easy fixes, reckon it can be done myself by getting replacement parts?

It matters if you have the tool to do it. Follow this checklist if you can.

1. If it turns on, make sure connections are right and output from computer etc. Dont open the sub if its simple settings, check everything.

2. If it turns on and you turn volume knob up and no sound, remove the driver, and put another speaker (can be anything, but dont go crazy on volume on the amp if its a small speaker). If it drives the different woofer, its a blown sub, if it doesnt drive it, then its the amp.

From here, you can look online for a new plate amp or driver. It would be much cheaper for a driver, as it you only need to match impedance, rms, and size for the hole in the box.

If you follow this, you will find out if its the driver or plate amp that is broken, and can go from there.

Thanks for the replies guys, ive established that the driver is fine so no problem there, the fault lies within the plate amp somewhere. Also tUDJ, that does actually help, ive been doing some reading and there seem to be LOADS of people with this sub gone wrong!
