I'm getting a little of sick of those epic high quality iPod earphones (/sarcasm), so I'm going to look into buying myself some propper ones.

How much do you want to spend?
What kind of music do you listen to?

I listen pretty much to any kind of music. Sometimes it's calm movie music, the other time it's Coldplay or Dragonforce, and then it's hardstyle.

If you can find yourself a pair of JVC Marshmallows, a quick 20 second mod will make them sound awesome

And if different kinds of music makes a difference, I prefer that my classic/movie music sounds better then the hardstyle/bass.

What about Sennheiser or JVC ones? I can't seem to get Skullcandy from my usual sites.

Sennheiser CX series are FANTASTIC. I have the CX 300 (make sure you buy them from a reputable dealer - there are a TON of fakes. NO EBAY!) and they're great.
__________________They sound beautiful, they come with three different sizes of ear adapters so it fits nicely. (Basically, tiny, normal, and huge - which is great for people who can't keep normal ones in their ears, or if they won't fit in their ears) Only issue is it's an asymmetrical cable (one side is longer than the other) which is good for behind the head, but some people don't like it. I prefer it. They're ~$20-$30 most of the time now, but well worth it. If you want to spend more maybe look into the higher CX series, not sure what they could've improved, but... great bang for buck. And I won't be disappointed if I break them in under a year.

Stick with names such as Sennheiser, AKG, Audio Technica and JVC. I'm sure whatever you pick you will be satisfied with. I've also heard alright things of Razer's bud's, but have never experienced the sound so I can't confirm, I have however had experience with all of the above. (Except AKG, but the reviews speak for themselves)
