There will always be and there is a growing niche again for pure analogue. I especially don't like the idea of sticking a processing system inside a PC case:/

The black/gold and caps are Panasonic FM, and reds ones are Black Gate NX, hard to find and expensive, but sound great.
All of the has become obselete since I now bypass through digital out to my dac; AMB Gamma y2 http://www.amb.org/audio/gamma2/

After a week of burn in, the sound of my Prodigy HD2 has fully opened up. The top end is now very sweet and relaxing with plenty of air between instruments. I found my self listening to a lot more classical music because now there is simply more details to listen to. The bass is punchy and well controlled even with my cheap (K55 headphone).

I have borrowed a pair of Grado SR60 and it sounded just amazing. The three dimensional sound stage is amazingly real. My friend who owns the Grado also agreed this is the best PC source he have ever heard and he invested a lot more into external DACs and etc.

I am now deciding on a new pair of headphones to go with the soundcard. : )

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the info. I am in talk with Chris J from PCX at the moment he suggested to upgrade few of the key caps to Black Gate. You are right they are fairly expensive it will be cheaper for me if I had it done when I first order the card. Now I have to send it back for the mod...

Hi I own a Prelude, what caps do u change in your mod on the prelude, do u have detail which caps to change and with what caps?
and can we reversed the change back so the card looks like original again?

what mainly changed after the mod? does the card sound more crisp or bass more punchy or what?

Here's another SC that quite impresive in sound.

its an Onkyo SE200-LTD, it sold quite good here in my country for an audiophile user.
A lot of big caps there too

Why is most of DIY soundcards use a Envy24-HT for it DSP

Got my last night!!

Here's a couple of quick photos using my iphone... sorry for the lack of photo quality, but I was too keen to install it instead of playing with a camera!!

Hot-Rod Soundcard in true audiophile colors!!! Is this it?-untitled-1.jpg

Regarding the sound quality, what more can I say! It's simply the best soundcard I've ever heard! Everything is clearer and more enjoyable to listening to.

I love it!

I am a 2 channel person too! Only got two ears! To me, surround sound = surround noise. I don't care for it.

Man, I'm glad I didn't see one of those before I bought my Xonar STX or I woulda been another 150.00 poorer!

You guys buy some nice toys!

AAR, check out this open box STX on the Egg for $117.00.

Looks like a pretty good price to me.
