Great move. A good receiver and speaker set will blow the heck out of ANY computer speaker set, even the high-end Logitechs. I've heard them too, and there is NO comparison. I recommend everyone who is into audio to look at investing in a good hifi setup. We spend hundreds of dollars on our video cards and hundreds of dollars on our cpu's, but turn around and use onboard sound with some $50 computer speaker set. Not getting the full experience, at least with games/music/movies.

3.5mm to RCA as stated.

Flexibility is far increased as well as the possibility of higher sound quality.

(Computer speaker sets suck )

Agreed. I have a yammie rx v363 reciver with 2 crappy sony fronts and 2 old crappy bose rears. Connected with rca to my onboard sound Plus a berhringer ep 1500 amp for the type r sub. Still sounds better then any computer speaker set. I really want some good polks or klishps.

I run digital out via hdmi to my onkyo 875 with 5.1 speakers surrounding my chair.
It sounds awesome, much better then even high end computer speaker systems. Being able to run high quality hardware EQ is great, so is lossless blueRay audio (Bit-streaming DTS MA and DDTrueHD)
