I have 2 different tuners. One is the ATI 9600XT with built in tuner and the other is the Hauppauge PVR-150. I'm using Beyond TV for my DVR. It can detect both cards. First you need to decide what software you are going to you and look at the supported tuners. For Beyond TV you can always download the trial and find out that way. I know Sage TV has a trial too. Meedios has a built in DVR too, but it's a little harder to setup and my ATI TV tuner isn't supported. Plus I like everything Beyond TV does. I use Meedio as my DVR frontend and have a link in it to open my Beyond TV. When I want to close out of Beyond TV, I just press the power button on my remote and then I'm back in Meedio. Hope this helps.

The link in the first post works for me. Its www.meedios.com

I already have Beyond TV and my HTPC all set up and it's been running for a couple of weeks now. The only thing that would be handy is being able to record two shows at once. Do you happen to have the list of supported tuners from Beyond TV?

Also, that Meedios link works, thanks. The link you have on the first page titled "Meedio 1.41 Download" links to a page that says they sold their software but you can download the last version of it here; but that URL doesn't work.

Two questions...
What OS do you use and which tunner do you like the most (gives you the best picture)?

Important Notes

(1) TV tuner cards with hardware encoding do all the "heavy-lifting" required to record and watch TV which allows your processor to do other things. For this reason, SnapStream recommends TV tuner cards with hardware encoding.

(2) Certain video cards are not compatible with Beyond TV. Please see the Incompatible Video Cards document in the SnapStream Knowledge Base for more information.

(3) Beyond TV requires a PC IR blaster or serial port tuning cable for tuning digital cable and satellite set-top boxes. Certain DirecTV set-top boxes can be controlled using serial port tuning and other set-top boxes require a PC IR blaster.

(4) A PC Remote Control is optional. SnapStream highly recommends one if you plan to use Beyond TV in your living room on your television.

(5) While Beyond TV supports Windows XP Media Center Edition, some extra steps are required to make it work. See this knowledgebase article for more information.

(6) Beyond TV does not support Windows Vista 64 bit, only x86 32 bit.

Windows XP Pro for the OS. I recommend the Hauppauge tuners. To be honest, I can't tell a difference between my 2 tuners. Just remember that your picture is going to look like the regular cable that currently runs to your tv. You aren't going to be able to improve it. I can't tell that much of a difference between my regular tv and my HTPC tuners. It also depends on what codecs you use. I'm using the ones that come with Beyond TV. You'll just have to do some tweaking with the colors, brightness and contrast to get your HTPC to match regular tv. My tv has a feature where you can put picture-in-picture side-by-side. I did that then adjusted.

I'm loving Meedio more every day. I just got my movies setup to 2 random movie trailers and a random intro(like THX intro at the movie theater) before the main movie begins. I have the movie trailers saved to my hard drive and it updates them every day.
