Default HTPC and Dish network - possible?

So i have dish network at home. The TV inthe living room has a dvr while the other two tvs have just the plain jane receivers. I have an old prestonia dual xeon system that wont be used anymore once i do my new xeon nehalem build. I am thinking of turning the old xeon into an htpc. How would i do this since i have dish?

You should be able to just get a TV tuner card for it and connect the composite video output on one of the receivers to the input on the tuner card. Pretty simple.

I think you might actually need a DVB-S tuner card (I think that is correct). I don't think all tuners are able to accept satellite signals. I don't think they are more expensive.

When you spec cards, you just have to see what programming they are capable of.

DVB-S is for free to air satellite not satellite like Dish and Directv.

Chunky_Chimp has you in the right direction with his post. You will also need an IR blaster.

Yes, Vista and 7 both come with Media Center, which recognizes TV tuner cards and can view/record from them.
