I just bought the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 1850 for my computer but the signal quality is unwatchable compared to my roommates TV. The actual signal that we have in our room sucks but is still watchable on his tv. It just seems like my tv-tuner is exaggerating the signal making it unwatchable. I am using W7 as my main OS but i also tried it in XP but the quality wasn't any better. Is there anything i can do to fix the problem, or should i just return the card?

Try changing the co-ax cable and/or removing any splitters you may have on the line. Sounds like a signal strength problem.
You could look at getting a signal booster, but it is best to have that as close to the drop into the building as possible.
