Default Anyone have Q6600 in HTPC case?

Just wondering if anyone has a Q6600 and large GPU in an HTPC case. Wondering how your temps are and what not.

Thanks!

Please list the clock, GPU, and case.

I had a q9400 in my Antec Fusion Remote before.

Runs pretty hot because the case only takes low profile cooler and it was overclocked to 3.4ghz.

It really just depends on what case and cpu cooler you have on that q6600.

You would think... but I have it at stock right now in a Gigabyte Aurora 570 (full tower case). This case has terrible intake ventilation, just one, but I added an antec 900 drive cage (w/ fan) and it still has some pretty high temps for stock. Idle temps hover around the mid 40s, which kinda scares me. I can just imagine a smaller HTPC case with less room for air to circulate...

I will have a Q6600, its runs hot. I have a zalman cooler and another fan above it. I will probably be moving my Q9550 into it, and the Q6600 will go into my WHS. I have to build my I7 first.

That seems like the common consensus. Looks like I'm going to have to sell my beloved Q6600

Dude, your CPU won't burn until 90C or so. Just because it's above your body temperature that doesn't mean that it's hot.

I don't want to get my CPU close to "burn." Even so, 70C is max safe operating temp for this CPU.

And 40C is really far away from even that, and the CPU will throttle itself at (most likely) 65C so that it never goes over. Whatever the exact temp it throttles itself at is still safe, even if you operate it for 5 years at that temp.

I can't get comfortable with operating temps at 65.
