Default planned build for my father

basically I'm sick of seeing all his old 80's and 90's tech taking up space and power and much of it not being used anyways. and his VHS DVD player is giving crappy tv recordings time to ditch the old analog stuff and step up to new stuff.

so I have a sempron 140 now.
and am thinking of pairing it with GIGABYTE UD3H 790gx motherboard.
also thinking about going with 4gbs sticks.
I want it to be able to play blu-ray but I'm not sure the cpu is enough.
I have not picked a case but since the things it's replace are huge compared to a HTPC I figured I should use that as an advantage to go with a mid tower.

any other suggestions are welcomed as this will be the first the HTPC I do.

Here is PowerDVDs requirements for Blu-Ray playback:

It looks like your processor makes the cut, but barely. There might be some choppiness if the computer is doing anything else.

oc the cpu a little if the mobo supports it
and you may want a dedicated gpu
nothing to powerful nvidia 7 or 8 series of ati equvilant
there both cheap, and it will help with the playback

IGP with side port ddr3 1333mhz 128mb, a 4550 should be better for media extenders.

I doubt he'll want to play games, though I do have a 3870 I'm not using.
i'd rather this be low power though.

anyways I know going to be using more the one tv tuner so I'll be using more then one hard drive.

I'm just cursors if you guys see a lot of cpu usage while recoding tv in the background?

Next to none. Provided analog encoding is done with a Tuner that has built-in hardware encoding.

In case you didn't know you can use just one HDD for multiple tuners.
