Default Problems with Hauppauge 1800
I am having issues with my Hauppauge 1800 tv tuner. When watching using their WinTV 7, it will sometimes just crash and close with no reason. When I try to watch TV in the Media Center it is jumpy. I down loaded their Media Center drivers and checked MS for Media Center down loads, but all theirs say not needed. Any one else have these problems.

What format is the source in? NTSC? 720p? 1080i?
What CPU and GPU do you have?
What codecs did you install?

Everything is from the Hauppauge drivers. The display is in 1080p. I have the Vista codec package installed, but it is not using any of them. Nothing in my startup bar. I emailed Hauppauge about the issue. Just wondering if anyone else had the same probs. It plays good using the WinTV 7, just randomly crashes.

It's not about your display, it's about your source resolution (cable boxes can usually be set to different outputs, but not higher than 1080i) and if your CPU and GPU are fast enough to work with it.

Either way, for codecs, install CCCP. And see if that helps in Media Center.

Call them up, don't wait for an e-mail. I had issues with mine when I got it with Vista. I called them and the rep walked me through it until it worked right. Definitely call them, they are great.
