Default HVR 2250 vs 1800

Where there be any quality difference between the two?

When i record with my 1800's they look good. But not as good as when i hook the cable directly to my tv. Now if i use the antenna to pull HD content threw my 1800 it looks just as good as the tv does doing the same. Obviously HD over the air though.

Will the 2250 get closer to the capabilities of the built in Tuners for Tv's? or am i missing something here.

Thanks for any help.

I've owned the 1800 and the 2250. For me their analog encoding was basically identical. The HD for all tuners should be identical, because there is no encoding it is just capturing what it being transmitted. I've owned a lot of tuner cards and none of them gave me, all around, as good of a picture as hooking it up directly to the TV. Some channels are as good some are not. It varies for me. But they all are very close. The 2250 does use a different chip than the 1800 so it is possible under varying circumstances that maybe you would get better results with the 2250.

I had both and noticed no real difference between the 2 cards.
I sold the 1800 (kinda wish I had kept it) because I wanted the dual tuner ability of the 2250. I really wanted to have 3 tuners, but the 1800 would not play nice with the 2250 (never figured out why, even after contacting Hauppauge several times).
