Hello there,
I'd like to ask for a little help with my first overclocking experience. I own an Intel Pentium 4 D845PEMY that runs at 2.8Ghz and would like to try my luck with it. Been doing some research and studying the various steps recommended by this excellent beginners' guide here: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1804 However, I have come to a dead stop. My Bios setup utility is plain. Most options are only listed and grayed out with no accessible functions. It will simply not allow me to access the setup part the guide describes, and I frankly ignore if there exists any way around it. I tried updating it to the latest version Intel has to offer in hopes it'd come with more tweaking options but there has been no change. Could anyone please lend me a clue? Or does this mean the bios cannot be tweaked for this PC? Thanks in advance! |

Hey welcome to the forums
you most likely have a pre built pc yeh ? eg dell or something similiar? which means no overclocking for you ![]() the motherboards they use arent designed for overclocking so they lock those options from there bios's

Sorry if I sound too clueless. I am half computer-aware, though some tech insight truly overwhelms me. |

well thats good news that it isnt a dell, less hassle
![]() so you have the Intel D845PEMY motherboard, unfortunately no intel boards overclock except the new Badaxe motherboard ( its a 775 socket , you have a 478 socket ) so the only way you will be able to overclock is with a new motherboard, or you can use a program called clockgen , however i wouldnt advise it, very unstable program.
