Overclocked and Underpaid
![]() |
My speed and voltages are locked out on my computer from the manufacturer (Dell). Is their an upgrade or something I can get to obtain access? I was thinking of saving the chip and ram and starting fresh. I heard I have a decent chip to overclock and would like to try it.

nope dell as well as all other oem manufacturers lock their bios the only chance you have is a program called clockgen but that is rather unstable as you have to oc thru windows

Good. Gives me more of a reason to start fresh.

That's pretty much exactly why they do it. I agree about we should be able to mess with the settings. The sad truth is that most (or all) oem manufacturers do this. Just do some research and grab yourself a new motherboard.

That seems to be it. I ran a program that details your system and I noticed for my processor it said:
__________________Pentium 4 630 Prescott = 3000 mHz, max 4000 mHz I was like "Max 4000 mHz??!!" Why the heck did you send this to me doing 3 G's when it could go higher. Anyways, now I'm interested in overclocking and I guess that was all it took. Now I've got to trash my motherboard, buy more gizmos, and get even more blank stares from my wife who's thinking, "Why would you want to take apart a perfectly good computer?"

It says max 4000MHz, because your chipset supports to overclock it to something like multi*bus, so if your multiplier is x20 and max bus speed is 200MHz, your maximum overclock is 4000MHz.

On the contrary to what everyone above said , yes there are ways of unlocking any hidden bios options which may be hidden from you in your current bios. Any pc you dont build yourself genrealyl has these options locked out so the manufacturer doesnt have to solve any problems from people who have messed about with them
Please give your motherboard make and model , i will get you the latest bios and unlock any options that i can Il Reply Soon |
