Dunno if there's anything for this but to RMA the board, but I'd really prefer not to...as I have this sinking feeling it'll be a couple weeks before I have a working system again.
Anyway. Flashed from the stock BIOS to the latest BIOS using a thumbdrive and the ASUS EZFlash utility. It showed the flash as succesfull rebooted. I get the initial post screen and beep...and then nothing. Keyboard nonresponsive. Reboot, and mash delete as soon as it start booting. I get into the BIOS and manage to load setup defaults, save and exit. Reboot...hangs after post again. And again. And again. Remove CMOS battery and move the reset jumper over. Replace it all, boot up and...hangs again. And again. You get the picture. I've tried resetting the jumper two more times for good measure, and several dozen restarts, and I've never gotten into the BIOS since that first time. ASUS says I'll have to send them the board so they can re-flash the BIOS, but does anyone else have some magic solution they'd like to share?

I think you try to update the bios, with your rig OC.You always need to set back to stock>BEFORE ,update the bios.Look like you corrupted the bios.Maybe you can try with different cpu if you have 1.

Are you able to enter your motherboard's BIOS to access the EZFlash utility? If so, I would suggest flashing back to an earlier BIOS. Also, which BIOS did you update your board with?

So you can't even get to the Asus CrashFree BIOS 2 utility? Instructions are on page 2-6 of your mobo manual I believe

Can't enter the BIOS, no. It displays the screen that says "ASUS P5N-E" and 'press del to enter startup' but the keyboard is totally nonresponsive, and it just hangs there. I can mash the delete key all I want, or hold it down, and I get nothing.
Likewise, the the Crashfree BIOS Utility doesn't work because it never gets as far as checking the CD drive.... I've had the motherboard driver CD in there for at least half of my attempts to boot, and never once has the crashfree utility started up. The BIOS I updated to was 0606 (iirc...was definately 06XX).

Your board is FUBARd then. RMA is pretty much your only option.

I just had the same thing happen to me last night updating my P5B Deluxe to 1215. Flashed bios reboot...nothing but a black screen...no beeps...nothing.
Finally read about someone else had it happen to them. They tried pulling out one stick of ram and booting (if that didn't work). They tried putting that stick back in and pulling out the other stick. I tried it out....and SOB computer booted up. Before the above success...I tried CMOS clear..battery pull...diff vid card. I was stumped. I figured MB was a goner...I even called ASUS and got RMA today. But tonight it's up and running. The only thing I can think of that caused this...was I did the flash while overclocked. Now I'm just having a ***** of a time trying to get my over clocks I could do back. Bloody BIOS won't flash back to 0804! Good Luck..hope this helps? Bahh crap..maybe the above won't apply to you! |

yeah it doesn't...it's not a RAM problem because the board posts fine. and it's already packed in a box waiting for fedex to pick it up today
![]() but yeah, if you can't post always check the DIMMs
