Default Damn, Flash failed! No boot! Now what?

Well, my IT guy suggested to use Asus update and get the latest bios.
I tried it, and it managed to delete my bios but did not load the new one.

Now, when I turn on the pc. One of the raided hard drives will not turn on. So it cannot boot. This is the same thing it does when an overclock does not work, so I normally reset the bios and everything is fine.

Now when I reset the bios, there seems to be no change. The 3rd hard drive will not turn.

I have tried the following:
1 insert mobo disk
2 insert MS disk
3 made bootable disk
4 inserted a floopy disk

I have run out of ideas.
Can anybody make any suggestions?
Thanks
nick

Damn, that sucks.
The reason it will not boot from any device is that it now prolly doesn't recognize any of them.. it's like your mobo is brain dead.
Resetting the BIOS doesn't help either because it has nothing to reset to anymore..

Hopefully someone else will have a solution, and else I hope you still have warranty on that board..

Good luck!

but, if it is trying to boot at all (it is getting past post) then it means the bios is not completely wiped. if there was no bios you would probably be getting a checksum error right after post and nothing else. sounds like the wrong bios got loaded which is screwing up the reognition of your hardware (to include everything on the mobo)

can you try reflashing to a different bios revision? even your old version would be a start

When I ran the update program it said it deleted the bios and failed to load the new one.

I got the new bios from Asus, I double checked, it is the right one.

I have been on google looking for bios recovery. I have found several things that I'm trying.

If I find something that works, I will post it.
Thanks
Nick

PS, it will not boot, so I cant reflash it.

Download your older version of your bios onto a floppy or a usb flash drive and if you can get into your bios flash it and install the older version. That should get you back up and running how your were before.

Edit: I didn't realize you couldn't get into bios to flash again. Download old bios version to floppy and take your computer to a repair shop and have them flash the bios the right way with the older version. The shop shouldn't even need to boot your computer to do this. They should have hardware to directly flash your bios on your motherboard.

On ASUS boards, can't you hold ctrl and F2 at startup to get into built-in flash utility?

Do that as a matter of pre-caution.

BUT TAKE MY ADVICE.

IF THE UTILITY ERASED YOU PREVIOUS BIOS - YOUR PC WOULD NOT BOOT. Period.

So more than likely -you're prolly having some driver/cable or power related problem.

My head is your bios is just fine and dandy - TRUST ME.

Look down other avenues for the problem you're experiencing.

Forget your bios - its fine.

(unless the util just happened to erase the aspect of it that relates to your disks... which is virtually impossible considering the laws of coding )

Didn't you read his post? He cleared the eprom. It's empty. The new bios was not flashed to it. No BIOS.

And I"m saying.

THAT COULDNT be the case!

AS he seems to be seeing the PC Post, but cant boot because of that raid issue.

IF THERE WAS NO BIOS - the PC WOULD NOT POST (forgive my use of the word boot THERE)

but.. yeah, I think he gets the picture.
