Default X38-DQ6 vs X38-DS4

Hey wondering which is best out of the two (for overclocking, and pretty much everything) also any others with the x38 chipset + crossfire support?

if i'm not mistaken, the DQ6 version has better power regulation (more stable power to on-board devices). i'm not really sure what else, though.

i say hang in there until march and get a x48 will be worth the wait the x38 - DQ6 is a great board but i would recommend waiting i have to rma mine atm has problem dectecting the processor right. i tried flashing the bios still nothing. als reinstalled all 2 otu of 3 operating systems that i have but to no avail. also check the processor on a other board everything is ok. also it is capable of over 533fsb x 7 that i hit on my E6320. the exact issue i am having is that it detects one processor less than whats on the board. with the Q6600 it detects only three out of four cores in device manager and coretemp. and One out of two cores with the E6320. kinda sucks.

DS4 is the trimmed version of DQ6. DS4 has regular power regulation, one heatpipe and fewer less usb/sata ports. Other than that, for $199, it is a very good basic x38 board.

4 power phases vs 6 power phases. The difference is minimal even on quads. DS4 is better bang for the buck.

I have the x38-ds4, couldn't be happier. I'm running my e8400 at 4.0ghz with everything on stock voltage except the vcore and ram. I havn't tried to find the max FSB yet. The DQ6 price was out of the question for me. So i had to decide on the ds4 and the P5E, but didn't want to deal with ASUS and it's famous vdroop.

DQ6 looks like it could go further in overclocking than theDS4, but thanks for all the posts think im gonna wait till march as f15-r1 said as the x48 is coming out and I think also the nVidia 9 series.
