Differences between the two boards? which is better? are they the same? did it just happen to be a coincidence that the 3DMark06 world record is on the EVGA one cos the guy didn't buy a XFX?

well in my opinion they are charging you way to much for a board that is built very cheaply.
i would recommend looking at one with solid capacitors design they tend to last way longer.

Unless I am reading your post wrong and you are suggesting he shouldn't by another card and just get an X38 mobo. If so, he should go P35 as X38 is only really useful for running ATI cards in Crossfire.

in my opinion, i would take xfx instead of evga. Evga pays much more, only difference is warranty and bundle, and whos gonna use evga's 10year warranty.
__________________And the test results tell, that xfx and evga are exact same board. and codymckay only difference between xfx/evga vs. asus maximus formula 2, I think is bundle. I guess maximus formula 2 doesnt beat evga/xfx on test results either, because if we look at asus p5n-t-deluxe and p5n mobos test results, we'll see that asus mobos hasnt succeeded OC tests as well as xfx/evga, or they had some kind of a problem keeping the comp stable.
