I was trying to flash my bios to the newest version. I burned the .bin to a cd then alt+F2 on startup into awdflash. It goes into the flash utility but nothing happens. Just a blinking underscroll beside File Name:_ at the bottom it says Message:Please Wait and is also blinking. The keyboard also becomes non-responsive. Now I waited for over an hour thinking it may be working. After an hour I just reset it and it booted back up into the same Bios.

Or a .bin burned to a disk from my understanding. The mobo has the flash utility built in. It won't go into the flash utility unless there is a cd in the drive, otherwise it just bypasses it and boots into windows. It recognizes it, just won't flash. I"ll probably just have to make a bootable USB just like you mentioned.

i flash my board using a CD with the .bin file burned to it. works fine.
insert the CD, then restart...at the post screen press ALT-F2 to enter AWDFLASH. i think it says press ENTER to flash from drive or something..sorry cant remember exactly. havnt flashed for months. flash to P31 man, its the best for this board. PS. oh, and one other thing. if the bios flash fails..your board isnt necessarily dead. i had a bad flash, usually AKA a dead mobo. but what i did was remove the CMOS jumper, then the CMOS battery..waited about 20 minutes, booted up with no battery installed, turned off. then re-inserted the battery and placed the CMOS jumper in default position and started up. bloody worked got it off some other site.EDIT: dont extract the contents of the .bin file onto the cd. just simply burn the .bin straight to CD and you're good to go.

also, are you making sure you are downloading the 680i bios and not the 780i bios? sorry, have to ask. i didnt have a single problem, i've flashed my board about 3 or 4 times, trying all different bios versions.
