I'm one of those idiots that must update when they are available. Have updated my EVGA 680i SLI BIOS many times by floppy - but P-32 acts like its too large for 144 and quits loading near the end.
Tried EVGA's CD method with no luck - won't flash. Using UNDISKER to open the ISO file and burn with FREE EXPRESS BURN to CD instead of one of the bloated programs. The next try I will follow the advice of one from this section who says to only copy and burn the .bin file. The .bin file appears as an icon that looks like a white page with a bent edge. Does that sound like the right file? |

i've had most success with the cd.
__________________My suggestions would be to actuall burn the image and not copy the documents. the iso creates an image on the disc vs what you are doing is virtually creating a data disc. find a program out there that will burn the .iso file as an image. Try downloading nero trial and do this or download roxio.

Thanks for the heads up, will try that. What i'm hearing you say is to burn the ISO file without opening it.
But may have to solve another issue first. When I downloaded the CD P-32 update (NF68_P32) and didn't know how to open ISO files - I tried the Open With options, which changed the ISO Icon's look. Can't find the original one to change it back to it's original state. Have downloaded another ISO file but it also has the wrong icon image. Any ideas how to untagle this one? |

Finally!! Tried the floppy method again, but this time set the allocation unit size to 1024 bytes instead of the default 512. The floppy recorded P-32!
After all those years of using floppies, have never had to change the default setting. Hard to teach an old guy new tricks! Have a new question! While trying the CD method and not understanding ISO files yet, I download the file to the desktop and of course couldn't open it! So I right clicked and tried "other" programs available with no luck either. later I downloaded Undisker which did. However, since then - when I download any ISO file, the file icon appears in the format I chose through Windows in the last paragraph. How can I change it back to the default setting? Nothing that I see when right clicking to do that! |
