Thumbs down Gigabyte P35 DS3 v2.0 - update bios

Hey all,

What do you guys think, will this kill my mobo or not? I am thinking about this mainly because rev 2.1 supports mem oc to 1200Mhz, rev 2.0 to only 1066Mhz. My mem is running fime at 1150Mhz+ (tested with memtest86+ v2.0) for aprox 3 houres with no errors but when OS is loaded it freezes sometimes when playing music. Now, i thought that it might be audigy2 issue so i removed it and enabled onboard sound. But to no avail. I tried to increase FSB overvoltage and again, no difference. Then i found out that rev 2.0 has 1066Mhz as "max" so this bios upgrade come to mind. I doubt that it will fix it but i really have no idea why the freezes occur. Running Windows XP SP3.

I was testing with FSB set to 386Mhz and mem devider set to 3x.

I wanted to try it out with different CPU multi and FSB (400x8) but from that point on the bios started to ignore my FSB settings Again, i have no idea why and how to fix it (probably new bios flash will do it as it helped once before). It uses the CPU multi as i set but ignores FSB completely. Strange.

My DS3L rev 2.0 runs much higher than that. I have cheap GSkills that are working well but had to get V over 2.0. 2.1V +.1FSB +.1MCH and set 2.3500 Vcore (shows 2.30V in hwm)hold up great for days with low temps 460FSB X7 E6550 @ 3.22GHz I had to lock ram at 2.0mult. cpuz showing over 1800FSB fine. I think it's due to memory, board will go 1150+ but my ram won't do it, anyway i'm not going to 2.3 or more Vddr, I'm just trying to max out at 2.1Vddr. I haven't seen where any beta bios will help me but some people can use the .5 mults. when I first started this it was Vcore that was killing me. cpuz showed 1.26, then 1.28, when I hit 1.30 everything started to run, including xp. that with 460FSB with your better ram you should be able to run a higher ram divider than me.

My funny problem: memtest86 v1.70 shows my memory bandwidth higher 4144MB/s at 333FSB(using auto performance settings 5-5-5-15 3T) but I'm getting 3701MB/s at 460FSB 4-4-4-12 2T same fsb with 5-5-5-15 3T drops to 3144MB/s

weird thing: super Pi to 16M takes the same time with 2.33 CPU 4144MB/s as 3.22 CPU 3701MB/s

hmmm...
