is it safe to update under windows with the @BIOS utility? shall i update to the f8f beta BIOS? in the gigabyte page it tells me to disable hyper threading before updating,i have a Q6600 so should i not worry about this?

Use whatever BIOS utitity your mobo manufacturer supplies, HT probably wont even show up in your current BIOS, only if it is available on the chip. Is there a good reason to do it?

It depends what the update was for, sometimes it is just a fix for something that you don't even have. If you are inexperienced with bios flashing and you are not having any problems it may be a good idea to leave it alone. Not trying to scare you but a bad flash can render your board useless. Check on the manufacturers site and see what the update is for. If the board is brand new I would probably leave it alone unless you are having some problem.
