Default XFX 790i Ultra BIOS P06

Tried updating via disc at boot and it's not updating. The idea of using nVidia control panel to do it is horrifying so I was wondering if anyone had problems updating and/or any fixes? I'm going to try P03 in a sec since it's the only other BIOS available on XFX's website. Dunno what happened to 4-5 T_T. On a side note, it does display some info that flashes by too fast once it tries to boot from the disc with the P06 ISO file on it. No idea what it says though. But after that it just boots like normal, with no updated BIOS.

Cant you update via a usb thumb drive? i am getting my 790i soon but i just updated my asus board w/ a thumb drive... i was told you can do the same w/ a 790i

I always felt safest doing it w/ a thumbdrive since you dont have to worry about your cd-rom drive messing up - or the cd it self being defective ... just a simple fat32 or fat16 formatted thumbdrive does the trick
