Default Is it worth a BIOS update for the following.........

Hi there

I have a Gigabyte EP45 DQ6, and was wondering if it's worth updating the BIOS for the following improvements:

F10a: Improve energy saving for DES Advanced

F7: Update CPU microcode

F6: Improve overclocking at 400x2.4B memory striping

I would only be doing this to try and get my Blu Ray player to work, but as it mentions nothing about this is it worth it?

Last time I flashed I went straight from F5 to F7 and it broke I think thats the reason why........ because I didnt go F5-F6-F7.....correct?

I just don't know whether its worth risking it again?

regards
jp

it shouldn`t matter if you skip an update or not, it should just work. unless you flashed it with a bios of a different mobo. that could`ve happened
anyways, i never had any problems with updating my mobo`s (gigabyte , asus and now again asus) and i only gave me more options everytime i did an update
and if it`s not good you should be able to get back to your old bios as well

No it was the right one lol.

It says on the gigaybyte site not to jump ahead in BIOS flashes. Anyway.....

The first time I flashed it, I had no operating system on the motherboard, I did it from the boot using a floppy. The HDD's were brand new and had not been touched, so I don't think that the BIOS backup would have been able to have been created and thats why I couldnt restore the previous version? This motherboard apparently creates a small backup on your Hard drive. Now that I'm up and running I think that the backup will have been created?

i don`t know about the automated bios back-up.
i always make sure i have my own back up...just to be safe
lately i just use the biosflash program from Asus and that works from within windows, and if it doesn`t go right it`ll automatically reset

problem is if it doesn't even POST after the flash, or after a CMOS clear.... its pretty much screwed. Thats what i've found in the past
