You can take a fan and have it sit on the graphics card and blow on the northbridge.
Or take a small 40mm fan and screw it into the heatsink (take a few screws and thread them into the heatsink, as the metal is quite soft). To remove it you would have to under 4 plastic push-through clips, and replace the NB cooler, and the left MOSFET cooler too (unless you cut the heatpipe, then you would need another one if you want to RMA).

It is best to keep the chipset below 50 C, and if your overclocking it is almost always necessary to have aftermarket coolers on your northbridge. I toasted one board for not doing this, and I know of a few others who also ran it with stock cooling and toasted the northbridge. Usually a Thermalright HR-05 on the northbridge, and any manner of mosfet or other heatsink on the mosfets are enough to keep this beast cool.

![]() Everest should show Northbridge temperature, or at least "chipset" temperature. Also Asus's monitoring software also will display the temperature. (just make sure you mute your speakers/headphones as they play a loud warning alarm pretty much every time you start PCprobe.)
