Default Trouble Flashing BIOS

I'm upgrading my CPU from P4 to e5200 on my Asus P5n-e SLI and am having trouble flashing the bios. I am currently on 0401 and can't post with the e5200.

I tried updating using EZFlash and get an error:
"Downgraded ROM file was not suitable for the system".

Then I tried using afudos and got the error:
"ASF signature not found ERROR:BIOS has no flash info"

I tried using 1301, 1101, and 0608 downloaded from the ASUS website.

Anybody know what the problem is?

No, I haven't. I figured that something must be amiss for both methods I did try to fail. Never done it off a cd before. Do you mean a bootable cd with dos and a bios .bin file or just using EZflash and copying the new bios from the cd?

EDIT: So the cd doesn't have to be bootable? The mb will just recognize the file and do the deed?

Instructions what I used to update my bios
* Download the following .iso file: E179_SZ13.iso
* Use a CD Burning software to burn the .iso image onto a blank CD (Nero, Alochol 120%, etc)
* Restart machine, and set the CD Drive as the primary boot device
* The BIOS flash process will begin, Press “Y” to program BIOS
* After flash remove the CD, power off PC Completely
* Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS

I don't think that iso is gonna work for me. Isn't that image for a 790i?

While the advices you have been given are good, it is actually a lot easier than that.

1) What you need is this:

http://forum.crazypc.ro/showthread.php?p=125411

(Download that latest version)

2) You need a bootable USB Drive. Instructions on creating one can be found here:

http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm

(Use method 2, it is the easiest)

3) Copy AFUDOS.exe and BIOS file into your USB Drive

4) Boot into DOS by selecting it from the BOOT MENU (BBS Popup)

5) Type:

afudos /i<filename.rom> /pbnc

6) Presto! You've just been downgraded. Regular AFUDOS won't let you downgrade, but AFUDOS Engineering Edition will.

7) Don't forget to REP+ Me!

I already did that very thing using AFUDOS engineering edition
I tried using the commands:
afudos /i<.rom> /pbnc /n
-----and------
afudos /i<.rom>

Same error message both times..........

BTW, I'm not trying to downgrade. I'm trying to upgrade my bios.

Edit:cd method didn't work either
Edit:NVM just bit my fingernails and flashed using windows...it worked. Thanks +rep to all that tried to help.
