Default Having trouble overclocking

Every time I make a change to the FSB even if it's just increasing it by 5, after I hit save, it shuts down but never starts back up. The only way I can fix this is by taking the battery out of the motherboard which resets my settings and puts me back at the starting point.

Any ideas? I have a Gigabyte GA-P35 DS3L motherboard and an Intel Pentium e2160 Dual-Core.

Increase your vCore, and see if that helps.

I don't have the time to try it right now but should I just follow these tips?

* Lock your PCIe bus at 100mhz (It says it does this when it is set to 'Auto' but it's better safe then sorry.)
* Disable your Smart Fan Control in order to run your processor fan at 100% duty cycle at all times.
* Disable Intel's Speedstep so that you can see what your processor runs at max.
* Change all the 'performance enhance' and 'vga booster' functions to their standard/disabled/auto settings.
* Always set your voltages manually so that you're sure whats happening with them.

And disable C1E.

And those steps you should do.

Thanks for the replies, just a couple quick questions.

I've heard the e2160 works at 3.0GHz with the stock cooler and I have Zalman CNPS9700.

1. What should my voltage be for 3.0GHz?
2. Is my CPU cooler fine?
3. Do I need a north bridge cooler?

We cant really tell you what voltage to use as every chip is different. What I would do is start by setting it at 1.35V and run prime95 for 4 hours and if its stable then take the Voltage down to the next smallest number and so on. Until your unstable.

Your Zalman is good. I got the same one and it keeps my Q6600 at 45c around that area while in load.

If you can get one then why not getting a NB cooler. But its not necessary.

What do you have your Zalman set to? I have mine about 25% so that it's quiet.
