Default DX38BT with q9450 proc

I just built a new system. I have a q9450 proc, dx38bt mobo, and 2x2gHz corsair 1333mHz ram. I have a bfg 280 oc and an antec 650 power supply. dont know if all that is relevant or not. Im trying to set up the bios, and do mild oc, for now. Any suggestions. One problem I am having is the system will only boot with default ram settings of 1066 7 7 7 20. should run at 1333 9 9 9 24. just want to get the most out of the new rig. Also it is air cooled using an antec 900 case.

whats the stepping on the 9450? This will determine how far you can overclock ..
