If his ram is clocked @ 667mhz as of factory frequency, it'll be harder to push them to 400mhz and link them to the fsb...

ok ignore what i said about the 667mhz stuff, it was an older rig i was talking about, forget it.
this is my last set of questions that i could sure need you help with please. does my FSB have to be at 400 for a 1:1 ratio with my 800mhz ram? what RAM option do i set for 1:1 when my fsb is at 400mhz? can i get 1:1 ratio if my fsb is at 333mhz? how can this be done?

If your ram is clocked at 800mhz, you will have to raise your q6600 fsb from the 266mhz default to 400mhz, and set the "basic" ram speed at 400mhz. Of course your motherboard will have to handle the fsb frequency in order to do that.
__________________I don't remember the bios names' features that will let you do that, but this is the principle. If your mobo holds you back, you'll have to raise the northbridge voltage and the fsb voltage as well!

so i set the ram to 800 and fsb to 400 and that gives me 1:1 ratio?

are these the settings i should put to get a 1;1 ratio?
multi=8 FSB400MHz Memory option 800mhz (availible options are auto, 667 and 800) increase any voltage to the MB and NB and Vcore if needed?

This is a step by step job, you'll have to raise the vcore and vram by small amounts. Have you managed to have a shot at cpu-z and core temp?

well i dont have this board yet. i was just wondering what settings i needed to get at 3ghz or higher.
what voltages would you reccomend for the Motherboard and CPU. my vid is 1.26. i dont have to increase vram cus it will be running at 400mhz right? c i will let you know how i get on in 3-4days time if i get it hopefully. subscribe to my thread and i will talk to you in a couple of days time. thanks so much for all the help tornado!

![]() If it's an asus board, in the p35-p45 chipset range, there's a good chance you won't have to change the vcore, since my "old" p5k premium (it was a p35) raised the vcore automatically to get it stable to 3,6ghz (400mhz fsb*9multi). It set the vcore between 1,36-1,385 depending on the cpu load while in windows. If it's not the case, you can manually change it, in the same vcore range as of above, starting by 1,35 maybe and getting it through an orthos or prime95 run for a few hours, to test its stability.

thank you for the advise. someone onanother thread has there quad at 360fsbx9. thats impossible unless they were running a 1:1 ratio with their RAM. what do you think? could they be another way for 1:1 whatever FSB you set?

If you don't want to link your ram to the fsb you can simply set the fsb and the ram basic frequency at different values, if the motherboard allows you to do so, e.g. you can set the fsb to 360 and leave the ram @ 400mhz. In some motherboards, the ram is forced in a certain way by the fsb frequency, meaning that you can only raise the ram basic clocks only by a multiple of the fsb. High end motherboards will let you play with the fsb and ram speed regardless of the value one has compared to the others. This just depends on the moterboard itself.
