Question GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 BIOS F14 Update

Hey Guys,

So I have recently started thinking of updating the BIOS and when I visited the site I noticed there was a recent update (6-25-09). I tried searching for F14, F13, and F12 without much luck.

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...2456#anchor_os

I am just a little confused to what the actual differences are...
F12 -- Add support for new super IO version
F13 -- Update CPU microcode
F14 -- Support Xpress BIOS Rescue function

I currently have F11 which is fine I guess but figured an update might be nice.

Hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this and possibly lead me in the right direction.

Thanks

965 is pretty old chipset. That won't be different among of them. If you aren't changing the cpu (from 65nm to 45nm etc) or other hardware and F11 works fine, you don't need to use them.

hi mate sorry for the long delay in the post.. IV got the same board and updated to F14 (waste of time) which revision board do u have ?

Anyways mine is V1.0 not sure what version bios i had before the update to F14 but i wasnt able to get any stable OC over 2.88ghz so a bios update was needed .. i went straight to the top of the pile and updates to F14, a few minor changes in bios menu and a stable OC at 3ghz BUT.. CPU temp was showing 15oc more than the core temps, so i down graded the bios to F13.. same problem tried F12 and all seems ok, a few usefull option in the bios menu are missing but nothing major, stable Oc at 3.2ghz but now iv notised a very large Vdroop from idle to load.. so im gonna go down to F11 see if that fixes it ..

Hope any of that mumble has been usefull to you, keep in touch as we got the same CPU and board, would be good to see who can get the higher stable OC
