Default bios won't save

When I boot up I get "CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded". From here I can press one of two keys. F1: this will attempt to load my OS but will continually loop the loading bars screen. Or I can press Delete: this will allow me to enter my BIOS.

I first tried to set my boot priority to CD so that I could run the Windows repair, but once I save and exit it doesn't restart and just stays at a black screen.

Next I pressed the button near my I/O area to reset the CMOS. This would only bring me back to the CMOS checksum error screen.

I then pulled my CMOS battery and let it sit for 8hrs, still same problem. This lead me to believe that my battery could be dead so I pulled it and replaced it with a known working one, still same problem.

Finally the last thing I did was move the CMOS jumper from 1-2 to 2-3. Then back to 1-2 to clear the CMOS.... still same problem.

Could my motherboard be damaged? I can't think of anything else. I luckily had an extra set of RAM which I also switched out to test. My current hardware is in my sig rig.

Sounds like a bad motherboard to me. You could try flashing the BIOS. If that doesn't work, send it back.

I have had a couple of mobos with this very same issue. Unless you wish (or need) to spend more time on troubleshooting, I would RMA the motherboard.
