im not sure about my system specs because someone gave me the computer and didn't give me the box, or manual or anything. I think I have found my motherboard though.

The motherboard usually will have the serial number written on it to confirm that. A page or two in on that manual will show you were the CMOS jumper is, so you don't have to remove the battery in the future. In my experience you can usually move the jumper over, pause a second, then move it back. If that isn't working then wait longer.

Once you get the BIOS reset, read up a little more on overclock socket 775, then try again .

Well what if neither of these methods work?

The jumper method didn't work. Anyone got any other ideas? Im pretty sure what I was increasing was the mhz of my memory. should I try different memory to see if that could be the problem? Will my pc even boot if theres no memory inserted?

Ok, i seemed to find the problem.. I had the Power sw, reset sw, speaker, and other things hooked up wrong, when i hooked them up right, it worked. Thanks for the help guys.
