reset your cmos. all you need to do is either move the jumper on the motherboard or take out the battery and turn on the computer

Move the jumper? On a laptop? Wut? Why do you want to update the bios?
I think he is talking about the cmos battery.... I'm not sure about the D600 but i have a D610 and the cmos battery is under the panel on the bottom that has a "C" next to it. You just take that cover off (make sure the Li-ion battery is out and power supply is unplugged) and unplug the little connector that goes to the cmos battery... and then wait for a couple minutes. Then plug it back in and put the cover back on, put the Li-ion battery back in and hook the power supply up and power it up.

Also, i've updated the bios on plenty of D600s and i don't think it changes any settings in there. I mean you can if you want but it doesn't do it by default.
