The Motherboard will auto configure the timings to default so just place the sticks in the Motherboard and you are sorted.

Try manually entering the timings into the BIOS using the SPD timings stated on the sticks.

If that does not work manually loosen the timings and try again.

The people @ anadtech.com say it's not that good to flash the bios trough the Winflash utility:
Quote:
After completing this test process with the 0311 BIOS, we flashed the system to BIOS version 0404 utilizing the AFUDOS program. We then reset the BIOS to standard default settings, rebooted, and entered back into the BIOS to configure our baseline BIOS settings. We proceeded to complete our test suite routine in the same manner as before. It should be noted that if you are updating your BIOS via the ASUS Windows Update application, we advise that you flash the BIOS twice to ensure it is programmed correctly. We have had several users experience performance and stability issues after utilizing WinFlash methodology, and the problems were solved by reflashing the BIOS again.

I flashed my bios trough AFUDOS. Back then i didn't have a floppy or a CD-ROM, so I copied the bios file and the afudos.exe in the root of my first partition (c:\) and I flashed it in 2-3 seconds. I woul do it again exactly like this if necesary,I don't trust those darn floppys or CDs

Angry Please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everybody, this is the thing, I bought an asus motherboard p5gd1-fm/s (Fujitsu-siemens real manufacturer) everything is new, I putted all parts together, this motherboard uses the E-Z Flash utility to flash. Is recomended to download the bios and save it in a 1.44 mb floppy disk. First problem is that the file is bigger than the capacity of the floppy disk. I downloaded the file anyway and saved it in a c drive and then compressed to save it in a floppy disk and I renamed it p5gd1fm.rom just like the manual says. After that I putted the floppy disk in the comp. and it display something like this..

EZ flash starting bios update.....
checking for floppy....
floppy found !
reading file "p5gd1fm.rom" completed.
Failed to flash !

I'm not able to enter to the bios set up program, as soon I turn on the comp. it starts to look for the floppy disk or the cd rom, my keyboard doesn't show any light, maybe the usb was disabled somehow. I used another computer to download the bios and save it to the disk. At this point I really don't know what else to do, I have done everything I have could, if anybody know any way to flash this chip please help me, now I am stock.

There are a couple of new OCN members on this thread, welcome.

Can you put the bios file on a USB drive, then from bios go to the tools menu and go to EZ Flash and load the bios from from the USB?

I know this is how the new ASUS boards work, I just dont know if yours works this way.
